CYMS Premises 1960-1997

One of the most famous buildings in Cavan.It was erected by the British Legion for veterans of the 1st World War.Over 400 young men and boys from Cavan town fought in the 1st World War lured by the promise of abrief encounter "home by Christmas".Aproximately 100 were killed in Battle.By 1960 the "Hut" was falling into disrepair and it was fortuitous for both parties that the CYMS were looking for a Premises.The late Bobby Gray,Steve Mulligan,Barney Connolly and Captain Michael McDonald (Hub Bar) were extremely helpful in their accomodation of the recently displaced CYMS and smoothed the way during the early transition years.
